Help &
Shortcuts.
FiveDraft is designed to get out of your way. We use a flow-based editing system inspired by the Fountain syntax, meaning you can write your entire script without ever touching your mouse.
The Golden Rule
Just start typing. FiveDraft automatically identifies SCENE HEADINGS(if they start with INT. or EXT.) and CHARACTERS (if typed in uppercase on a new line). Everything else defaults to ACTION.
Keyboard Shortcuts
Cycle through formatting types (Scene, Action, Character, Dialogue, Parenthetical, Transition, Note).
Create a new line. FiveDraft intelligently guesses the next type (e.g., Dialogue follows Character).
Toggle Zen Mode. Hides the interface so it's just you and the page. Press ESC to exit.
Click further down the page to immediately start a new line at the end of your script.
Your Studio
Managing Projects
The Dashboard is your creative command center. From here, you can view all your masterpieces, create new scripts, and manage your library. Each script card provides quick actions to Rename, Duplicate, or Delete your work.
Cloud Sync: Every keystroke is saved in real-time. You can switch devices and your work will be waiting for you exactly as you left it.
Import & Export
Import existing work in Final Draft (.fdx), Fountain,Fade In, or Celtx formats. Just click theImport button in the editor toolbar.
Download your script as a production-ready PDF, or export toFinal Draft (.fdx) for industry-standard collaboration. Fountain and Fade In exports are also supported.
Fountain Syntax
FiveDraft supports standard Fountain formatting shortcuts:
- .INT or .EXT: Force a Scene Heading.
- @NAME: Force a Character name (useful for non-uppercase names).
- [[ Note ]]: Creates a script note.
- > TRANSITION:: Aligns text to the right for transitions.
